Masjid Al-Mu’minun in Memphis, TN, is a 501-c-3 tax-exempt entity dedicated to the establishment of wholesome community life.  It is located at 4412 South Third Street in the Westwood section of Memphis where it has served the Muslim community and the general public since 1975.

The Halal Food Pantry at Masjid Al-Mu’minun was established in 2012 as a community service.   Distributing no foods that fail to meet the high standards of Halal, and also conforming to the standards set by the Mid-South Food Bank,  this Halal Food Pantry became the first (and remains the only) Halal Food Pantry (HFP) to receive recognition and affiliate status so as to be interconnected with a major regional food bank.

Over 90 percent of HFP clients are food insecure community residents who are referred to the Masjid as a source of relief.  Less than 10 percent of the recipients of the HFP’s clients happen to be Muslim. Currently the Halal Food Pantry serves zip code 38109 which the regional food bank identifies as being a “food desert”.     Plans are in place to add zip code 38116 as funds permit.

Halal Food Pantry encourages you all to eat healthier.  In an effort to alleviate some of the issues related to poverty in the Memphis area, especially related to food  deficiencies, Masjid Al-Mu’Minun, with the aid of some committed Believers, has established and maintains the Halal Food Pantry.  Please visit our Halal Food Pantry on the last Saturday of each month, 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., for our monthly food distribution.
