Arabic classes are open for interested participants Sundays at 11:00 am:

Special Election Announcement:  

In accordance with the Bylaws, Article III Section II elections for a new Resident Imam is to be done within 90 days of notification.  The Board of Directors has slated September 29, 2019 as the day for the election, inshallah.  In accordance with the Bylaws the Associate Imams designate from among themselves Imams to serve as Interim Resident Imam in increments of 30 days as follows:  Imam Wali Shaheed, Imam Ma’Hajj Abdul-BaaQee and Imam Hakeem Love until the election is completed.  

Nominations are now closed.
Nominees for the position of Resident Imam of Masjid Al-Mu’minun are:

  • Imam Ma’Hajj Abdul-BaaQee
  • Imam Hakeem Love
  • Imam Wali Shaheed

There will be a “Meet the Candidates” Forum and Dinner on Wednesday September 18, 2019 at 6pm. The intention of the activity is to allow the community members an opportunity to have their questions addressed before the election. Dinner sponsored by the Community Affairs Committee. Forum will be facilitated by the Board of Directors.

Please review the posted voting criteria and eligibility list.  If your name is not on the list and you feel you meet the criteria as outlined in the bylaws, please see Sister Rosie Muhammad.

Please submit any requests for the Community Affairs Calendar to Community Affairs via email (mamcommunityaffairs@gmail.com) ASAP, when interested in securing an event date. Wednesday COB is the deadline for same week announcements. Dates are first come/ first serve. This allows for fairness with honoring requests.  Dates will be updated into the monthly calendar and posted to inform and to avoid conflict.

The Al- Ma’un Committee will be selling food plates the 1st Friday monthly, beginning of Friday September 6, 2019.

The Community Affairs Committee will host a COMMUNITY YARD SALE “ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE” Saturday, September 7, 2019 8:00 am- 2:00pm. Vendor fee is $5/includes 1-table. All vendors must register. Forms are available. All items not sold MUST be removed from property same day. See Sis. The Nation of Islam Mosque #55 has invited you to their Salute to the Women in our Community Banquet Saturday, September 7, 2019 @ 6:00P.M. $25.00 Donation. Doors open at 5:30pm. Our very own Sister Brenda Sharif will be honored at the event. 

Mark your calendars to attend the public reading of To Keep From Undressing, a book of poetry, from published author Aisha Sharif at her alma mater- Rhodes College, Thursday September 26th at 5pm. Aisha Sharif is the daughter of Imam Rashad Sharif and Sister Brenda Sharif. More details to come!

Masjid Al-Mu’minun is participating in the 100 at $50 Program to support existing Clara Muhammad schools. We are asking individual people or organizations to donate $50 per month towards the program, which will benefit a different school each month. We are asking that members donate whatever they can towards this effort, payable in the treasurer’s office today.  Our August SCMS recipient of $510 was Miami, FL.  Thank you all for recognizing “Education as a #1 Priority.”

Al-Ma’un Committee requests du’a for all our sick or incapacitated Brothers and Sisters. Also, remember our sick with a call, du’a, Muslim Journal, or a visit!  Please extend prayers for Sis. Lydia Muhammad, Bro Khalid Rashid and Aariz Rashada.  Donations are requested for the Al-Ma’un Committee, so we may continue to support our members in their times of need.

Masjid Al-Mu’minun Nursery needs your help to follow the Guidelines posted outside the door.  We are requesting parents check and ensure the nursery is clean before children leave.

MICAH Meeting is September 15, 2019 at Mount Vernon Church. Community involvement is requested.

Community Affairs Committee presents monthly workshop for youth on the development of an Entrepreneurial Mindset in youth and awareness of Sexuality and Mental strength. Presenters are Imam Kareem Salaam and Bro. Dawud Sabir. Our Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10 am.  Future workshops are scheduled the 1st Saturday monthly.  Youth and parents are encouraged to participate.
